TEXT:  Psa. 24:1-6

INTRODUCTION:

A.      PSALMS ARE BEAUTIFUL AND WORTHY OF STUDY.

          1.       Language of praise.

          2.       Language of prayer.

B.      "WHO WILL GO TO HEAVEN?"  THIS ONE TELLS.

I.      FIRST, GOD'S SOVEREIGNTY EXTOLLED( vs. 1-2 ).

A.      ALL BELONGS TO GOD( vs. 1;  Psa. 50:10-11;  1 Cor. 6:19-20 ).

B.      GOD CREATED ALL THINGS( vs. 2;  Gen. 1:1;  Jer. 27:5;  Isa. 44:2 ).

C.      THAT INCLUDES US( Acts 17:28-29 ).

D.      GOD HAS POWER OVER US BY RIGHT.  WE ARE HIS!

II.     WHO WILL GO TO HEAVEN?( vs. 3 ).

A.      SAME QUESTION IN 15:1.  IMPORTANT!

B.      HE THAT HATH CLEAN HANDS - A RIGHTEOUS LIFE.

          1.       God's expectation( 2 Tim. 2:19;  Rom. 6:1-2;  1 John 1:6-7 ).

          2.       For the Christian there is still sin( 1 John 1:8 ).

          3.       But "no condemnation"( Rom. 8:1-4 ). Must not follow the flesh( vs. 4 ).

          4.       Our righteousness made possible by Jesus( 1 John 4:9-10; 1 Pet. 2:21-24 ).

C.      A PURE HEART.

          1.       Action is product of the heart( Luke 6:43-45 ).

          2.       Heart must be right( Col. 3:5-10 ).  Character!

          3.       God will judge thoughts( Heb. 4:12-13 ).

          4.       Hearts to be centered on what is right( Phil. 4:8;  Col. 3:1-2 ).

D.      NOT HYPOCRITICAL( Matt. 15:7-9;  Matt. 23 ).

          1.       God wants the whole man( John 4:24 ).

          2.       Devastating effect of hypocrisy( Rom. 2:24;  Matt. 23 :37 ).

E.      OUTRIGHT DECEIT - SETTING ABOUT TO DECEIVE IS CONDEMNED.

          1.       Satan is the father of all liars( John 8:44 ).

          2.       Liars all share the same fate( Rev. 21:8 ).

          3.       Christians to be known for truthfulness( Matt. 5:33-37 ).

III.    BLESSINGS PROMISED TO OBEDIENT.

A.      THE BLESSING INVOLVES HEAVEN - DESCRIBED IN TERMS THAT

          INDICATE GOD'S PRESENCE.

B.      WE ALL WILL BE DEALT WITH JUSTLY!

C.      1 Cor. 15:58;  Gal. 6:9;  2 Tim. 2:11-13;  2 Pet. 3:9.

CONCLUSION:  THIS IS THE PEOPLE THAT SEEKS GOD.

A.      SPIRITUAL ISRAEL( Rom. 2:28-29 ).

B.      GOD'S CHILDREN( 2 Cor. 6:17-18 ).

C.      1 John 3:1-3.
