Satisfaction

TEXTPsalm 17:15

INTRODUCTION:

A.      WHAT WOULD SATISFY DAVID IS MENTIONED HERE.

B.      WHAT DO YOU WANT TO ACCOMPLISH WITH YOUR LIFE?

          1.       What would satisfy you?

          2.       How would you summarize your life?

C.      MEN DIFFER AS TO WHAT SATISFIES.

I.      WHERE MEN SEEK SATISFACTION.

A.      PLEASURES( Psa. 17:14 ).

          1.       Priorities effect morals( 1 Tim. 5:6;  2 Tim. 3:4 ).

          2.       Like Moses, we have choices to make( Heb. 11:25 ).

B.      RICHES( 1 Tim. 6:7-10 ).

          1.       The danger of wealth( Prov. 30:7-9 ).

          2.       There are more important things ( Prov. 22:1 ).

          3.       They cannot satisfy( Luke 12:15;  Ecc. 5:10-17 ).

C.      IN POWER.

          1.       What do men pursue when they've caught money?

          2.       What does power do for us?

                   a.       Still need guidance( Jer. 10:23 ).

                   b.       Still dependent on God( James 1:17 ).

                   c.       Can do nothing on his own( Matt. 6:27 ).

          3.       We too have a Master( Eph. 5:9;  John 19:10-11 ). Responsibility!

          4.       Ultimately, how does God regard power? ( Matt. 20:26-28 ).

D.      KNOWLEDGE.

          1.       Futility and sorrow( Ecc. 1:18;  12:12 ).

          2.       Human wisdom vs. God's( 1 Cor. 1:18-20 ).

          3.       True Knowledge vs. infidelity( Romans 1:21-23, 28 ).

          4.       What is it important to know?( John 8:31-32;  17:17 ).

II.     THE BIBLE ON WHAT SATISFIES:

A.      IF WE MAKE WORLDLY THINGS PRIORITIES( Matt. 16:25 ).

          1.       At what cost do we obtain?

          2.       If we obtain, we lose it anyway.

          3.       Then we are left with nothing!

B.      JESUS( Matt. 6:19-21;  Rom 8:31 ).

C.      PAUL( Phil. 1:21-24 ).

CONCLUSION:  IF WE COULD JUST GET TO HEAVEN!
