I.      READINESS TO HEAR THE WORD (Acts 17:11).

A.  MARKS OF NOBILITY:

          1.  They received the word with an open mind.

          2.  Contrasted with the Pharisees (John 5:39-40).

          3.  They tested the teaching (1 Thess. 5:211 John 4:1Rev. 2:2).

B.  WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?

          1.  Do you pray? (Prov. 28:9).

          2.  Do you want to know (John 7:17).

          3.  Do you want to go to heaven (James 1:21;  John 8:32).

II.     READY TO GIVE AN ANSWER (1 Pet. 3:15).

A.  QUESTIONS ASKED FOR DIFFERENT REASONS.

          1.  A challenge to faith (Matt. 19:3).

          2.  A challenge to authority (Matt. 21:23).

          3.  Honest inquiry (Acts 8:34).

          4.  A child’s question.

          1.  Proper diet (1 Pet. 2:1-2).

III.    READY TO TEACH (Heb. 5:12).
