"If Any Man Love Not The Lord"

TEXT1 Cor. 16:22

INTRODUCTION:

A.      THE GOSPEL IS THE "GOOD NEWS."  WHY?

B.      THE GOSPEL IS ALSO A MESSAGE OF WARNING

          ( Heb. 10:31;  John 12:48;  Matt. 10:28 ).

C.      OUR TEXT IS SUCH A WARNING.

I.      WHO IS DESCRIBEDTHOSE WHO LOVE NOT JESUS.

A.      NEED NOT REFER TO THE INFIDEL, , CRIMINAL OR PERSECUTOR.

B.      THE WARNING IS INTENDED FOR CHRISTIANS.

C.      WHAT CHRISTIANS DO NOT LOVE THE LORD?

          1.       Those who don't kiip his commandments( John 14:15 ).

                   a.       Refers to baptism, of course( Acts 2:41 ), but more, also.

                   b.       Includes these, too( John 13:34;  Matt. 6:33;  2 Cor. 7:1;

                             1 John 2:15;  Jude 3;  Phil. 4:8-9;  Luke 9:23;  Matt. 10:34-39 ).

          2.       Keeping his commandments involves sacrifice( Rom. 12:1 ).

          3.       It involves making him Lord - The Boss( Acts 2:36;  1 Pet. 3:15 ).

D.      MANY THINK THEY THE LORD WHO DO NOT( Matt. 7:21 ).

II.     WHAT HAPPENS TO THOSE WHO LOVE NOT THE LORD?

A.      OUR TEXT SAYS THEY ARE ACCURSED.

B.      CONSIDER THIS PASSAGE( 2 Thess. 1:7-9 ).

III.    WHY SHOULD WE LOVE JESUS?

A.      JESUS LOVED US( Eph. 5:1-2;  Gal. 2:20;  1 John 4:19 ).

B.      HE BECAME OUR SERVANT( Matt. 20:28 ).

C.      HE LAID DOWN HIS LIFE FOR US( John 15:13;  Matt. 20:28 ).

D.      HE BORE OUR SINS TO THE CROSS THOUGH HE WAS SINLESS

          ( 1 Pet. 2:21-24 )

E.      WE ARE THEREFORE SAVED THROUGH HIS BLOOD( 1 Pet. 1:18-20 ).

IV.   HOW WILL WE SHOW OUR LOVE?

A.      John 14:15;  1 John 2:3-5.

B.      HIS LOVE CONTRAINS US( 2 Cor. 5:14-15 ).

CONCLUSION:

A.      DO YOU LOVE JESUS?

B.      WILL YOU KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS?
